The connection between Deutz and electrification is quite strong. We talked about this more than once and the latest acquisitions (just to mention Torqeedo and Futavis) and a further proof of a trend. From February 11 to 14, Deutz took part in an important event held in Willingen and organized by the German association for the construction industry, environmental technology and machine engineering (VDBUM). ‘The ideas of today driving the solutions of tomorrow!’ was the slogan for this year’s event.

A special guest was on display at the company’s booth. We are talking about the TCD 9.0 engine, awarded with the Diesel of the year back in 2018. This 9-liter cubic capacity four-cylinder engine generates 300 kW and has been especially designed for heavy-duty construction equipment and agricultural machinery. Visitors to the seminar had the opportunity to test the revolutionary augmented reality app Deutz Advanced Live Repair, providing real-time information to mechanics equipped with tablets that helps them to carry out targeted maintenance work on Deutz engines.

As a matter of fact, the German manufacturer is offering individual combinations of diesel, gas, hydrogen, hybrid and electrified drives as part of a modular product system. ‘Opportunities in electrification with drive technology from Deutz’ was the title of the keynote speech being given by Michael Eisentraut, Vice President of Electrification at Deutz AG, explaining why construction equipment is among the sectors that can benefit from the cost savings and eco-friendly credentials offered by electric drives.
