Tractor of the year 2023, the triumph of Fendt 728 Vario. Here are the winners of the other categories

Drum roll and… it’s time for Tractor of the Year 2023! In the ceremony that took place yesterday morning on the first day of Eima International, the Fendt 728 Vario was crowned by the 25 journalists of the international jury as the best tractor in the top category of the competition, the one dedicated to open field vehicles, without any limit of power.

During the event, the other three prizes of the competition were also awarded, among the most coveted in the world for tractors: Best of Specialized for orchard/vineyard and mountain tractors (won by the New Holland T4.120 F), Best Utility for all-rounder company tractors (won by the McCormick X6.414 P6-Drive) and Sustainable Toty for the vehicles that have distinguished themselves in the energy transition (won, this year, by the JCB Fastrac 4220 iCon).

The finalist tractors were 16: of these, five competed for the premier category, eight for the Best of Specialized award and 3 for the Best Utility. The Sustainable Toty was awarded at a general level, taking into consideration all the finalist tractors of the 2023 edition. The tractors that participated in the Tractor of the Year 2023 will parade in a live show every day of Eima International, at 12.00 and at 16.00, from 9 to 13 November in the square between pavilions 35 and 37 of Bologna Fiere.

Fendt 728 Vario, the winner of the Tractor of the Year 2023

Now in its seventh generation, the 700 Vario series from Fendt is confirmed as a must in the medium-high power range. Among the main new entries, the new Agco Power 7.5 and 283 horsepower engine designed specifically for this range and the Fendt Dynamic Performance which allows for up to 20 extra horsepower in all conditions. Downstream, the VarioDrive transmission with hydraulic pump that powers two hydraulic motors, one for the front axle and one dedicated to the rear axle, automatically transferring the drive torque as needed. The cabin, for the first time available with a cat. 4, is equipped with the Fendt One interface that allows you to take advantage of up to three monitors to manage all the smart and digital functions of the tractor.

New Holland T4.120 F, Best of Specialized in Tractor of the Year 2023

120 horsepower 3.6-liter FPT engine with HI-LO 36X16 gearbox. New look with super compact and low hood for maximum visibility. New cab with standard flat floor and VIS multifunction display positioned above the dashboard, providing real-time information about the tractor. The man-machine interface of the cabin has also been completely renewed, which now includes the most advanced New Holland features and is already set up to integrate the latest PLM systems and technologies for agriculture 4.0.

McCormick X6.414 P6-Drive

The Best Utility 2023, the state of the art of the latest generation of company tractors proposed by the brand under the Argo Tractors group. The jury was convinced by the independent suspension front axle, the four-wheel braking, the new robotic powershift, the suspended cab with transparent roof and all-in-one joystick with simultaneous transmission and loader management and intelligent functions for satellite guidance and fleet management. Under the hood, the 4-cylinder FPT engine with 135 horsepower of maximum power which becomes 146 in transport and with the PTO inserted through the EPM.

Jcb Fastrac 4220 iCon

Accompanied by the wording “iCon”, from the name of the newly developed console mounted on the armrest and flanked by a touch-screen display that offers exceptional flexibility in the allocation of commands and in the information that can be consulted by the operator. Steering on 4 wheels as for the telescopic and 240 the maximum horsepower with Agco Power engine and continuous gearbox.
