Gaussin will participate in the Monaco Yacht Show, in late September, to put on display its electric and hydrogen powertrain solutions for yachts. In addition to the well-know expertise of the French manufacturer in the truck sector, Gaussin has developed some interesting solutions for pleasure craft applications, with a special focus on hydrogen development.

Clean and sustainable powertrain solutions in Monaco

This year’s Monaco Yacht Show, from 22 to 25 September, will pay indeed great attention to clean and sustainable solutions for the yachting sector, the ideal ground for testing and perfecting new sustainable solutions that can eventually be applied to the entire maritime sector. With a customer base that has the resources to support sustainability and many experts who can embrace change, there is an opportunity to build a sustainable, future-proof yachting industry and a model for the maritime sector. Gaussin, concerned for many years with the climate cause and the future of future generations, is making its contribution and leveraging its expertise to accelerate the energy transformation of the maritime sector.

Gaussin and alternative powertrain for yachts

Back in 2011 and in cooperation with the French Atomic Energy and Alternative Energies Commission (CEA-Liten), Gaussin designed the POWERPACK FULL ELEC (electric) and POWERPACK H2 (hydrogen-powered), conceived to be an ecological alternative to diesel engines. According to the manufacturer, these solutions are «compact, modular and versatile and combine the components required for energy storage, supervision and thermal management. The POWERPACK® FULL ELEC and H2 use the latest generations of battery and fuel cell technologies, respectively».

Designed in 2011 by GAUSSIN and co-developed with the French Atomic Energy and Alternative Energies Commission (CEA-Liten), the POWERPACK is a compact, modular and versatile solution that combines the components required for energy storage, supervision and thermal management. The POWERPACK FULL ELEC and H2 use the latest generations of battery and fuel cell technologies, respectively.

The two POWERPACK options – FULL ELEC and H2 – can be combined on the same boat in dual source and may act as power source for the shore power, providing shore power to the boat to shut down the generators and replace the boat’s diesel consumption; as a primary power source for a boat as well as a power source for a hybrid boat, then in combination with a thermal engine to reduce the boat’s environmental impact.
