The Venice Boat Show 2021, that’s the second edition of the event in the iconic lagoon, was a huge success. Let’s launch a provocation: what if this were to become the natural scenario for electrification in the marine sector?

Venice Boat Show 2021. The place to be for BEV and PHEV?

On the Powertrain magazine pages, you’ll discover a complete report. Without fear of argument, we can only state that we have seen the opening skirmishes of what will befall us in the next years. On the one hand, there are some who campaign for hybrids (the overwhelming option; see Bimotor, AS Labruna and FPT Industrial, Boni and Agco Power, AS, again, together with CMD and FNM), electric pioneers (Geminiani), and some who continue to support diesel, at least for light commercial purposes (see Rama with the Oxe outboard motors).

Venice Boat Show 2021

The floor to the shipyards

Alberto Galassi, CEO of the Ferretti Group strongly believes in Venice and its potentials. «If you look at the exhibition scenario there is no boat show in the whole of the Eastern Mediterranean area, from Lebanon to Venice, across Slovenia, Turkey, Greece. Venice offers a perfect opportunity in terms of venue, location and date, to present one’s creations and innovations to this market. In Arsenale, we will preview our largest yacht, the Ferretti 1000.».

«I share the same passion as Mr. Galassi for the City», adds Gianguido Girotti, CEO of Benétéau. «I repeat that Venice is the ideal hub for an international nautical event and for the visibility of the eastern Mediterranean axis, which is not covered much at all. One cannot fail to exploit this synergy between culture and passion for the sea.  A great deal of interest has been generated between the first and the second edition by the entire nautical supply chain, from shipbuilding to technological innovation, but it is likely to expand to other sectors in the future related to services and tourism that will also be showcased in an event like this.»
