Bauma 2025, Hitachi expands its offer of electrified mini and midi excavators
Hitachi will be present at Bauma 2025 with a range of ten new electrified excavators with operating weights ranging from 1.7 to 14 tonnes. The new machines were developed together with KTEG, as part of the EAC joint venture, and Dimaag AI.

Hitachi will be present at Bauma 2025 with a range of machines capable of tackling various applications. Among these, it will present its largest range of electrified excavators. From minis with an operating weight of 1.7 tonnes to the entry level construction range with an operating weight of 14 tonnes. In total, we will see nine models with zero local emissions at the Hitachi stand, in fact almost a third of the manufacturer’s new exhibition offer.
Hitachi’s electrified vision
A presence that, in fact, demonstrates Hitachi’s ongoing commitment to providing solutions for construction sites with zero local emissions. But not only that. In fact, it also underlines the successful collaboration with industry-leading partners to achieve the objectives from the point of view of the electrification of construction machinery. In particular, hydraulic excavators.
In total, there will be four models with operating weights from 1.7 to 14 tonnes. Their origins are directly rooted in Hitachi. The other six machines are instead developed by EAC (acronym for European Application Center), i.e. the joint venture with KTEG (Kiesel Technology GmbH) and Hitachi CME already announced at Bauma in 2022. A strategic alliance aimed at developing special machines that are not only electrified. First of all, the demolition models with KTEG technology but branded Hitachi. Like, for example, the ZX400MC-7.
Hitachi at Bauma 2025: the range of electrified machines is expanding
The ZX17U-EB will then make its international debut. A mini with an interchangeable battery and charger developed together with the specialist Dimaag AI. This is a company founded in 2018 and headquartered in Silicon Valley. Its global presence includes offices in Osaka, Japan, and Bangalore, India. With a team of over 150 people, it focuses on EV (Electric Vehicle) solutions for both the off-road machine sector and on charging solutions for electric vehicles on and off-road.
Also on display will be the ZX55U-6EB and ZX135-7EB (opening image). Hitachi will showcase the two machines together with a 422 kWh Alfen NV energy storage system coupled with a charging unit. A 14-tonne autonomous electric excavator will also be on display.

Solutions developed with KTEG
Among the KTEG solutions exhibited at the Hitachi stand there will be several new products addressed to the joint venture. First of all, the ZE150W electric wheeled excavator, the ZE300 excavator powered by an internal combustion hydrogen engine and the ZE225 electrified excavator with a triple boom. In addition to these, there will also be the ZE17 cable-powered mini-excavator. The range will also be completed by the ZE85, already seen in 2022, but now equipped with a new battery pack that offers greater operating autonomy.
Francesco Quaranta, CEO of HCME, emphasizes: “Our zero-emission solutions at Bauma are in line with the vision of contributing to the creation of a safe and sustainable society. We also recognize the challenges of the industry in meeting the requirements for local zero-emission construction sites. In fact, we take this as an opportunity to collaborate and develop innovative solutions for our customers.”
