These days are quite hot for CNH Industrial and the related automotive brand Iveco. Following the resignation of former CEO, Hubertus Mühlhäuser, and the appointment of Suzanne Heywood as acting CEO, the new CNH Industrial CEO has been eventually appointed and, starting from January 4th, 2021, Scott W. Wine will take the lead. Mr Wine, who has gained considerable international experience across a variety of industries, comes from Polaris where he was Chairman and CEO since 2013.
«The Board is delighted at the appointment of Scott Wine, given his broad industrial experience and strategic expertise», said Suzanne Heywood. «Scott is committed to delivering the strategy that the company outlined at its Capital Markets Day in 2019, including the plan to spin-off its on-highway activities».
CNH for sustainability: the IVECO S-WAY NP 460 wins the STY 2021
In the meantime, one of the brands belonging to CNH, Iveco, won the fifth edition of the Sustainable Truck of the Year (STY), an award assigned by Vado e Torno magazine. In particular, the award in the Tractor category went to the Iveco S-WAY NP 460 in LNG version. The winning truck is equipped with the latest generation of FPT Industrial’s Cursor 13 Natural Gas engine. This 6-cylinder engine ensures a maximum power of 338 kW at 1,900 rpm and torque of 2,000 Nm at 1,100 rpm.
«Cursor 13 NG uses stoichiometric combustion and multipoint sequential injection, ensuring best-in-class fuel consumption and lower noise than Diesel. It can run on 100 percent CNG, LNG or biomethane and delivers fuel cost savings vs. Diesel of up to 30-35 percent», stated a press release by FPT Industrial.
Iveco and the path to alternative powertrains
Such an award confirms the CNH Group’s trust and efforts in natural gas and, more generally, in alternative and more sustainable powertrains. It is no coincidence that at an important international event held recently, albeit in virtual form, namely the eighth edition of the Green Gas Mobility Summit in Madrid, Iveco Brand President Thomas Hilse stressed that «the path chosen by Iveco towards carbon neutrality begins with natural gas, passing through LNG, the bridge to hydrogen, and bio-LNG, the springboard to the final destination: a complete range of solutions for green mobility».
