The UK-based Kohler distributor Atlantis Marine Power has been purchased by Italian recreational and commercial marine distributor SAIM Group.

Founded in 1986 by Richard and Suzanne Dix, Atlantis Marine Power (AMP) became a well-known regional player in supply and support of marine mechanical and electrical equipment both to leisure craft and commercial boat manufacturers. Peter Middleton and Paul Lakey acquired the company in 2005 and now the acquisition by SAIM, leading Italian company in equipment supply, will give more strength to the distribution in UK. Peter Middleton will stay in the company as a partner and Director.

Joining SAIM Group will give us the opportunity to become a more powerful company, quicker in response and more diversified in the offer,” said Peter Middleton, “We will be adding more quality components to our product range”.

As a matter of fact, SAIM is not only a valuable Kohler partner, it is also the manufacturer of QS Seamaster DC, AC and hydraulic tunnel or retractable thrusters range as well as of Dynamica generators, complementing the Kohler gen-sets range with high- and variable speed models. Thanks to this acquisition, SAIM Group will have the chance to sell its products directly in the UK.

We’re very glad for this opportunity”, said Marco Donà, CEO of SAIM, “The business relationship with Peter goes back many years ago. SAIM and Atlantis Marine Power will be the two most important distributors in Europe for Kohler. We look forward to becoming a strong partner to the British boatbuilders like we are in Italy and in the Emirates”.

We’re proud to be part of the Atlantis Marine family. This is a first step of our group towards territorial diversification, not only in the marine business”, says Massimo Donà, President of SAIM Group. “SAIM Group is strongly investing in new business opportunities both in new markets and technologies, especially as far as the renewable energy solutions are concerned. The acquisition of AMP is fully synergic in this respect enabling us to approach several UK cutting-edge component manufacturers.”
