Scania has recently celebrated the 50th anniversary of its V8 with a weekend of celebrations in Trento (Italy)

On 4 and 5 May Scania welcomed thousands of people to its headquarters in Italy for the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the V8 engine. During the weekend, there was also a big competition between drivers of industrial vehicles, won by Lorenzo Boldini from Brescia (Italy).

A new museum dedicated to the history of the V8, an exhibition and parade through the streets of Trento of the best historical vehicles, the show “Una Vita da Libidine” by Jerry Calà, a driving school for children, live decorations: all this was present during “The days of the King” (“I giorni del Re”), the event organized at the headquarters of Italscania.

Auction: “Harto of the King”

Scania, during the weekend, also presented the first model of a limited edition V8 engine, designed to celebrate the engine’s anniversary. The special edition was sold during the charity auction “Hart of the King” (“Cuore del Re”), won by Giuseppe Piumatti, CEO of Bra Servizi, an Italian company operating in ecological services. Scania’s choice was to donate 15,000 euros from the auction to ADMO Trentino ONLUS, a bone marrow donors association from the province of Trento.

Franco Fenoglio, President and CEO of Italscania, said: «We are very proud to have delivered the first model of this limited edition to Bra Servizi, a leading company in the waste management industry. But above all we are proud to be able to support ADMO to enable them to continue to give hope to those suffering from blood diseases».

The 50th anniversary parade through the streets of Trento

The best historical vehicles present during the event gave new life to the streets of Trento with a festive procession that attracted great curiosity and enthusiasm.

Franco Fenoglio highlighted: «We wanted to organize this event to celebrate the 50th anniversary of our legendary engine but at the same time to give space to the sector and its protagonists. The event was a precious opportunity to bring the general public, coming from all over Italy, to this world. While also bringing attention to issues such as safety, sustainability, innovation and great passion that characterize a strategic sector for our country».

Giancarlo Perlini, Marketing Manager of Italscania, added: «Passion is the very essence of the V8, a product that in 50 years of history has been able to become a real “brand within the brand”. A product that represents the perfect combination of emotion and logic, together with passion, performance, sustainability, innovation and technology».
