VYRV 2019 (acronym of Versilia Yachting Rendez-Vous), celebrate the debut day of its third edition the day after a thunderstorm that complicated the work of the organizers. Faced with the forfeit of the Ferretti Group, the shipyards of the Viareggio district closed ranks, with Azimut-Benetti in the lead (and Codecasa, Cerri, GP Yachts, Overmarine, Perini Navi and so on).
VYRV 2019. A story started three years ago
As the boat shows season’s first runner-up, after ‘tasting’ the Boot Show in Düsseldorf at the end of January, the VYRV 2019 aims to represent the Made in Italy sector of yachts and mega-yachts, a 3.88 billion euro sector with a natural vocation for export, which accounts for about 83 per cent of production.
VIAREGGIO, TUSCANY. WHAT HAPPENED ONE YEAR AGO
Representing the engine room at VYF 2019, in alphabetical order: Caterpillar, FPT Industrial, MAN, Volvo Penta. MAN stands alone, the V12-2000 is under a plexiglas shrine, the historic and most powerful voice of the choir of Nuremberg, with its 24.2 liters (BxS 128×157 mm) and 1,471 kilowatts at 2,300 rpm. A big shot also at the Volvo Penta stand, that D13-Ips1350 that saw the light under the Sidney sun.
TALKING ABOUT AZIMUT AND VOLVO PENTA @ MILAN DESIGN WEEK
The in-line 6-cylinder 735 kilowatt at 2,400 rpm is equipped with a two-stage turbocharger, cooled by the intercooler, and is available with the Electronic control vessel system. FPT Industrial brought the C16 1000, the top-of-the-range pleasure boat that FPT Industrial presented to professionals and the audience at the Cannes 2018 Show: the 15.9-litre inline 6 cylinders diesel engine delivers 735 kilowatts at 2,300 rpm. Finally Caterpillar, with the C8.7. The Caterpillar Italian dealer, CGT, signed an agreement with Danfoss Editron to to provide integrated solutions for electrical drive systems, including genset, for both commercial and pleasure applications.
Mase Generators and variable speed. Ecospray and DeNOx, DPF and DeSOx
DIESEL International got some interesting sparks at the Mase stand and in the Ecospray one across the VYRV 2019 piers.
Let’s start with Mase Generators, specialized in low-medium power groups, which emphasizes the V.S. 10.5, with permanent magnet alternator and variable speed, a trend that for some years now is gaining ground in the generation on board. The speed thus becomes ancillary to the load, and is automatically converted from 2,100 to 3,150 rpm. The acronym indicates the maximum power, expressed in kilowatts. The Kubota D722 engine works under the capsule.
Finally we passed by Ecospray Technologies, a member of Carnival Group. In this case, there are many new features and we will soon be fully aware of them. Ecospray looks out onto the exhibition scene to echo a line up that is no longer limited to scrubbers. From DeNox treatment to DPFs, the mission is to transfer the skills acquired in the industrial sector to the marine sector. One of the most interesting proposals to the leisure boats market, which by the end of the year will vertically integrate expertise in the production of, so to speak, ‘DPF’ hardware’, and that of a system engineering company, that is, more oriented to the ‘software’ skills.
