Piacenza is ready to welcome the seventh appointment with the Italian Lifting Days/Giornate Italiane del Sollevamento (GIS)
The biennial appointment with the world of lifting and exceptional transport is back: from 3 to 5 October Piacenza will host the seventh edition of the GIS – Italian Lifting and Exceptional Transport Days/Giornate Italiane del Sollevamento e dei Trasporti Eccezionali.
The companies’ interest in the fair seems to be constantly growing: as of today, just over two months from the start of the event, it has almost reached the sold out of the exhibition spaces. For Fabio Potestà, director of Mediapoint & Communications, this is already an encouraging and significant figure.
At the previous edition there were 308 exhibitors on a total area of 33,000 square mebters. At the moment there are already 310 exhibitors representing over 370 brands, but their number is expected to grow before the official start, while more than 11,000 qualified visitors from both Italy and abroad are also expected for this edition. The GIS is now an international event and one of the most important in Europe dedicated to these product sectors.
More availability of products with AGV Expo
Some segments, such as mobile cranes, aerial platforms, telehandlers, trailers and vehicles for industrial and port handling as well as for exceptional transport, confirm their presence. Others, such as construction cranes and forklifts (and their components) have significantly increased their presence this year. There will also be an absolute novelty: the AGV Expo area, pavilion 3, dedicated to autonomous driving vehicles. AGV stands, indeed, for Automatic Guided Vehicles, a particularly innovative sector on which many companies are investing capital and technology.
Fabio Potestà explained: «AGV Expo is a natural integration of our exhibition: the result of technological evolution and of an unstoppable trend of which exhibitors and visitors have become aware. And also AGV Expo, unique in its kind, represents an excellence, because at the moment there is no other trade fair dedicated to this specific theme».
Another topic on which the GIS will focus is the increasingly important issue of environmental sustainability. Green Power and environmental friendly technologies are ready to show new zero impact solutions leading towards battery electric traction systems but also to power diesel engines with special mixtures of diesel and gas (CNG, LNG, LPG, biomethane, Syngas).
Sector conferences will not be missing
The exhibition part of the GIS will be integrated with a full program of conferences and workshops. In fact, there will be several meetings with the major trade associations present at the event. The topics will be multiple: the safety of the machines, the training of operators, the problems linked to the limited availability of roads for exceptional transport companies, the infrastructural developments of ports, freight villages and logistics centers.
