New Holland, and therefore FPT Industrial’s N67 NG engine, was awarded in the Sustainable Tractor of the year 2022 category with the innovative T6.180 Methane Power. You know what we are talking about? Tractor of the Year is an international award that yearly a group of independent journalists – specialized in agricultural mechanization – assigns to the best tractor in the European market.

FPT Industrial N67 NG, 6 cylinder, 132 kW

The Natural Gas version of the NEF industrial engine from FPT Industrial gets 132 kW peak power and it’s almost on the same page of the original version. Diesel-like performance with up to 180 kW at 1800 rpm and 1035 Nm at 1500 rpm for agriculture applications. This could be just the stepping stone towards a truly circular economy, at least on farms producing biogas and using tractors powered by biomethane.

T6.180 Methane Power

This tractor had already completed its ritual test cycles in 2016 and was at work on a farm in northern Italy.

As we wrote at the time, the New Holland T6.180 Methane Power was equipped with a subsoiler and 9 tanks with a capacity of around 300 litres (52 kilos) of methane. These tests also reconfirmed the excellent results of the field trials recently carried out in Italy, Spain and the UK, which demonstrated not only the T6 Methane Power’s operational capabilities, but also its qualities in terms of operating economy, with fuel cost savings of 25 to 40 percent compared to diesel.
