The John Deere range of compact tractors take a boost towards the Stage V. We are talking about 13 different models and six series from 19 to 48 kilowatts. The primary innovation as for the engine deals with Yanmar TNV Series 1.6-litre three-cylinder diesel engine, now fitted to 2R and 3R Series tractors over 19 kilowatts (here is a previous posts of ours regarding the Stage V certification for Yanmar engines).

As for the Yanmar TNV Series engine, according to the press release, «It uses the latest engine technology to optimize fuel consumption, control and precision, while reducing environmental impact and operating costs. The engine is equipped with common rail injection system (CRS) and electronic control unit (ECU) in order to monitor engine operating parameters in real time and regulate fuel delivery to ensure optimum performance».

John Deere and the Stage V: focus on the aftertreatment system

Regarding aftertreatment, the key indeed to reducing emissions: «The aftertreatment system of the new engine consists of a diesel particulate filter (DPF) and oxidation catalyst (DOC) similar to the one successfully used on John Deere farm tractors, which automatically reduces exhaust emissions and noise levels by meeting the current Stage V standards».

The proven eHydro transmission

At the top of the John Deere compact tractor range, the new 4052M and 4052R tractors now adopt a larger 2.1-litre four-cylinder engine with DPF, the same engine already fitted to the larger 4066M and 4066R, which remain unchanged.

In addition to the new engine, the 3R and 4R Series compact tractors will be equipped with a new eThrottle function integrated into the proven eHydro transmission, designed to make the tractor quieter and more comfortable as well as more fuel efficient.

Cab versions of the new 2020 range of John Deere compact tractors are already available from UK and Irish dealers, while cabless models will be available from October.
