According to Volvo Penta “The new D8 industrial genset engine is based on mature technology concepts that have undergone hundreds of thousands of testing hours and real-world use in a wide variety of applications across the Volvo Group. Volvo Penta engineers have perfected the design and optimized the 6 cylinder for the power generation segment, allowing customers to benefit from proven, reliable components. This 8-liter power generation engine has been developed to produce smooth and vibration-free operation with low noise levels. The lower noise emissions have been achieved by choosing more sophisticated fuel injection technology and by adding a top-of-the-line Visco fan clutch. Noise reductions of up to 2.5% – compared to previous products – have been measured.
Tested at extrem temperatures
To verify performance, reliability, and durability, the D8 was tested to the maximum – at temperatures of -25ºC through to 60ºC of sweltering heat – in real-world field tests with customers. This extensive testing ensures the engine functions with the required performance and reliability levels in all the applications, climates, and environments Volvo Penta customers operate in.
Isuzu Motors to buy UD Trucks
Moving form Volvo Penta stationary applications to trucks, ”the Volvo Group and Isuzu Motors completed on April 1st the transaction whereby Isuzu Motors acquired UD Trucks from the Volvo Group for an enterprise value of JPY 243 billion on a cash and debt free basis. The strategic alliance within commercial vehicles between the two groups, aiming to capture opportunities in the ongoing industry transformation, will now also become operational. The transaction is estimated to have a positive impact on the Volvo Group’s operating income in the second quarter 2021 of close to SEK 2 billion and increase the Volvo Group’s net cash position by approximately SEK 19 billion.”
