Wärtsilä

Wärtsilä has partnered with Brazilian energy company Energetica Suape II S.A, majority owned by Grupo Econômico 4M, to conduct a world-first clean energy trial. It will see ethanol, a biofuel mainly produced from sugarcane, used to generate clean power.

Wärtsilä has signed a contract with Norwegian shipowner Eidesvik to supply the equipment for the conversion of an offshore platform supply vessel (PSV) to operate with ammonia fuel. Ammonia will play a significant role in enabling the shipping industry to reduce its emissions.  

Wärtsilä will supply the Caribbean island of Curaҫao with a 25 MW / 25 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). The order was placed by Aqualectra, Curacao’s government owned utilities company.

Wärtsilä has signed a repeat order with EDF Renewables UK to deliver a grid-scale energy storage system (ESS) in Bramford, United Kingdom (UK). The 57 MW / 114 MWh project will support the transition to a decarbonised electricity system and help achieve the UK’s net zero goals.
